Sage Advice…What I’m Drinking This Week
Not my Circus…Not my Monkeys (Polish Proverb)
Oy! It’s been one of those weeks: sick child, 110 degree heat, business drama, etc., etc. The herb of the week is sage, so I am doling out some sage advice. Un-invite the crazies, and have a fruity, spicy, herbal cocktail!
3 fresh sage leaves
3 fresh pineapple chunks
1/2 oz. lime juice
1 small slice Serrano chili
2 oz. white rum
3 oz. pineapple or pineapple coconut juice
soda or mineral water
pineapple chunk, sage leaf, and slice of Serrano chili for garnish
Muddle sage, pineapple chunks, lime juice, and Serrano chili slice in a cocktail shaker. Add rum and pineapple coconut juice and a handful of ice to the shaker. Shake until cold and strain into a highball glass filled with ice. Add a splash of soda, and garnish with a pineapple chunk, a sage leaf, and a chili slice in a decorative pick. I like to stir the drink with the garnish, and the drink will get a bit more spicy as you drink it!
Cheers! Please sip responsibly.
